JAKARTA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has exported 500,000 U.S. dollars worth of electric bicycles, from Sidoarjo, East Java, to the U.S. and European markets.
"The export of electric bicycle products is real proof of the Indonesian industry's capability in downstream efforts. Indonesia demonstrates its ability to produce high-tech products and add value to meet global market demands," said Trade Minister Budi Santoso in a press release on Tuesday.
He highlighted that most of the main components of the exported electric bicycles were sourced and assembled domestically.
The ministry is currently prioritizing and developing an export market expansion program aimed at increasing trade agreements with partner countries.
Budi hoped that this achievement in electric bicycle exports would inspire more Indonesian businesses to export value-added products and contribute to national economic growth. ■
